Missile defence is not a defensive system at all. It is designed to allow the US to achieve full spectrum and to rapidly increase space weaponry technology and the general weaponisation of space. Missile defence is an offensive system designed to give the US the upper hand in conflict and dominance in peace. Its very nature will provoke an arms race over the coming years as countries try to redress the military imbalance. It will also lead to a general increase in arsenals. It is not a path to peace but a path to war and dominance.
We wish to remind Mr Kadish that we oppose this system and that, should he request use of any UK facilities for missile defence, he will find us opposing him at every step. We call on Mr Kadish to avoid any use of the UK for a missile defence system and to promote alternative means of achieving disarmament through international multi-lateral institutions and treaties.
