PMWATCH - March 25, 2003 -- As the world watches the US-British invading forces set Baghdad aflame, Ariel Sharon's Israel is busy executing its plan against the Palestinians, swiftly moving to swallow more Palestinian land now that world attention is consumed by the unfolding tragedy in Iraq. As the Ha'aretz article below explains, "The defense establishment has recommended moving the separation fence east of several West Bank settlements, so that some 40,000 settlers and some 3,000 Palestinians are included in the western, Israeli side of the fence."

In parallel, according to a BBC news item published four days ago, Israel has put a request to the United States for an additional $10 billion in aid. According to the article, "Israel said that US National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice pledged the aid to Israeli Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday. Rice told Netanyahu that the (Bush) administration decided to raise the amount of the guarantees by $1bn over what had been planned because the Americans were impressed by the economic plan that has been presented to the government, Israel's finance ministry said in a statement."

This aid request is on top of the $14 billion package ok-ed in November of 2002 -- see: http://www.pmwatch.org/pmw/cast/14more.asp -- and of course, on top of the usual $3 billion dollar in annual aid that the United States doles out to Israel.
Please don't let the Sharon criminal machine carry out its dirty work without calling on the media to force a light on them. Also, please insist that the US media inform the US taxpayers that as their children are sent into death's way, Israel finds it perfectly appropriate to ask yet for more money.
