Amicus Curiae Friends of the Court
Since Mr. Milosovic continues to refuse to recognize the ICTY, he has not appointed any attorneys and will not present a defense. In order to assure a fair trial, the Trial Chamber has appointed three “Amici Curiae”, Friends of the Court, to make certain that the legal rights of the accused are protected.
They are: Steven Kay, Q.C. of England; Branislav M. Tapuskovic of Serbia and Mischa Wladimiroff of The Netherlands, all experienced trial attorneys. Mr. Kay has acted as Defense Counsel for Duslo Tadic, before the ICTY and for Alfred Musema before the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR).
