Commenting on this action, Wendy Fenton of SCF stated: "The first ever flight for abducted children from the government side to a rebel area opens the possibility of bringing many more children back home."

However, since then there have been no more CEAWC slave repatriations. CEAWC has a budget this year of $42 million and is financially supported by E.U. countries, UNICEF and SCF.

According to the "Eminent Persons" report: "CEAWC has suffered from a lack of transparency and slack financial management, while CEAWC structures mushroomed. CSI says that the "Eminent Persons" report holds the Sudanese government responsible for reviving the country's slave trade.

The release also said, "There are deep divisions within Sudan's Islamist government about cooperation with the U.S. Government's new initiative to bring an end to Sudanese slavery and justice to those responsible for this internationally recognized 'crime against humanity.'"
