Testifying before Congress today, CIA Director George Tenet revealed for the first time that the names Saddam and Osama share three letters in common, offering the most persuasive proof to date of a link between Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden.

"After months of studying the first names of these two gentlemen we came to the frightening conclusion that they both share the letters S, A and M," Mr. Tenet said. "One letter could be considered a coincidence – two, perhaps. But three letters is conclusive proof that these two men are working together in a close, coordinated fashion."
Mr. Tenet said that both names were run through Microsoft Word's "spell check" function before the CIA reached its startling conclusion.

The CIA then forwarded the information to the White House, which immediately started drawing up plans for a military invasion of Iraq.

In Vermont, Democratic hopeful Howard Dean attacked the revelations, arguing that preemptive strikes on other countries based on the spelling of their leaders' first names were "unacceptable."
