Several months ago, some of us at the “U.N. OBSERVER” heard of the plight of a young Palestinian man who had been shot in the back while attempting to flee an Israeli Defence Force attack. He had been the sole source of income for his family and his wounds had left him paralysed.
At the time, there was some hope that with proper medical attention, he might be able to work again, if not walk.
We thought of contacting various European governments, in the hope of finding one that would act in a humanitarian way.

Austria seemed ready to help Mahmoud and his family but after many weeks of discussions and an examination of the medical reports from Palestine and Jordan, it was decided by these same Austrian officials that the best they could do would be to send Mahmoud a wheel chair.
The wheel chair has not been sent and it will no longer be necessary for Mahmoud – or his family.
Please read the following report by Ramzy Baroud.
