Historically, the Native American nations of North America have suffered greatly from the decisions made in Washington, D.C. Sadly, we now see history repeating intself. The United States, which began with the famous statement “Taxation without representation is tyranny” grants little value to the voices of the First Americans.
The current debate over the last remaining wilderness areas of Alaska is conducted over such issues as national oil independence when industry itself is more concerned with adapting to alternative energy sources.
Meanwhile, those most directly affected, the Native Americans of Alaska, are left waiting the decision of others as to whether or not they will be alowed to live freely on their own land.
In an attempt to bolster their own courage and hopefully bring some attention to their plight, the original Alaskans are staging several events. We are listing some of these events.
