Stop the deportation of the Iraqi journalist and writer, Ali Al Sudanie

A call for solidarity issued by his fellow Iraqi colleague: Ara Khajadour

It has emerged that the Jordanian government has decided to deport the Iraqi
writer and journalist Ali Al Sudanie back to Iraq. Mr. Sudanie who has chosen his exile in Jordan, because of its proximity to his homeland, has been outspoken in his writings about the occupation and its agents. He has not hesitated to expose the crimes being committed in Iraq.

Mr. Sudanie's friends and relatives are therefore extremely worried about his welfare and well being, should he be forced to return to Iraq. Being sent back to Iraq, in the current atmosphere of death squads and militias acting with impunity is being sent to a certain death. Mr. Suddanie's friends fear that his body will turn up like the hundreds unidentified bodies found each month in Baghdad in some rubbish dump having met a horrible and slow death.

While Mr. Sudanie's friends understand the difficulty created by the Iraqi
government's incompetence and mishandling the frequent issuing of new
editions of Iraqi passports that cannot have made the job of the Jordanian
officials in the immigration department easy. And while most Iraqis are
grateful for the generosity of Jordan in giving shelter to nearly one million fleeing from hell Iraqis, they nevertheless appeal to the Jordanian authorities to exercise their discretion and grant Mr. Sudanie permission to stay in Jordan.

We appeal to the Jordanian authorities not to deport Iraqis back to hell.
