Israel Rafalovich: All Airbus Sites Covered By Environmental Certification

Brussels

Airbus has become the only aerospace company to receive the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 14001 environmental certification, covering all the company’s sites, including Airbus' headquarters in Toulouse, France.

The certification recognizes that Airbus uses an environmental management system (EMS) to monitor and minimise the environmental impact of Airbus production processes and products.

Certification for ISO standards by the respected Det Norske Veritas (DNV) Company follows a company wide audit in December 2006.

Airbus is the first to use a greener chemical free milling process for fuselage panels. The only by-product is 100 percent recyclable.

New greener and cleaner painting processes are also being developed.

For sometime, Airbus has been working towards quieter and more fuel-efficient aircraft.

The A380 is planned to be fuel-efficient and have low noise levels; aircrafts like the A350XWB will push this process further.
