Lebanese Minister Killed, World Condemns

WORLD CAPITALS — Anger and panic swept the Lebanese capital on Tuesday, November 21, after Industry Minister Pierre Gemayel, a young Christian Maronite minister, was gunned down in broad daylight, with condemnations pouring in form rival Lebanese political parties and world leaders.

"I call on you to remain calm. We do not want instinctive reactions or revenge", former president Amin Gemayel told tearful supporters at the Saint Joseph hospital where his son died of gunshot wounds, reported Agence France-Presse (AFP).

"We are thinking about how to protect ... Lebanon's freedom", said the Christian leader. (MORE)
