As a follow up of the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) 2002 and in compliance with the sustainable development targets of the United Nations Millennium Declaration, the Iberoamerican General Secretariat (SEGIB), the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM) of the Government of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) have jointly organized an Iberoamerican Ministerial Meeting on Energy Security in the Latin American Region.
