E.U.: New Police State Measures

Statewatch News Online reports several alarming developments that indicate a tendency towards new Police State measures in the European Union.

POLICE TO PROVIDE THE "NEWS" DURING DANISH EU PRESIDENCY
Denmark, which just began the six-month E.U. Presidency, has invoked powers to suspend free movement provisions and reintroduce checks on people at borders and entry points for the whole six months of its office - normally this power (under Article 2
of the Schengen Agreement) is invoked for specific meetings where protests are expected for just two or three days. It is also reported that the Copenhagen police are preparing special holding centres (for up to 300 people) in the underground car parks of police stations and the Netherlands police have supplied specially armoured vehicles. Finally, in an extraordinary move the Copenhagen police has set up their own press room and website to provide the "news" when protests take place.
