Christmas 2004

Today, we commemorate the virgin birth of a child in a stable.

He is called by many titles, including: Rabbi, Philosopher, Rebel against the established order; Messiah, Anointed, Christ; Prophet, Son of Man, Son of God, Avatar and God on Earth.

His teachings are mostly found in the Gospels, the Quran, parts of Jewish Scripture, the Upanishads and Gathas - but few of us have ever followed them. They stress the universal Brotherhood/Sisterhood of all Creation, under One Eternal Loving Creator.

Those who call themselves “Christians” are grouped into many diverse organisations, called “Churches”. In the more than 2,000 years since His birth, they have quarrelled among themselves – and with others – often going so far as to wage wars over doctrinal and administrative issues and of course, territory.

Even now, there are some who call themselves “Christians” and yet justify aggressive wars, occupations and torture.

What a different world this would be if we would follow His Teachings, instead of clashing over things we do not understand.

Nevertheless, in Hope for a better future, we wish everyone a very

Merry Christmas !
