U.N. General Assembly Wall Vote Postponed

Article image As should have been expected, the General Assembly has postponed voting on Israel’s “Separation Fence”/Wall while a new draft Resolution is prepared.
Just as the Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) is not binding but is simply a statement of fact, based upon International Law, so also will whatever Resolution the General Assembly passes be merely a statement of world opinion. Only the U.N. Security Council has the power to enforce Security Council Resolutions.

Since the Five Permanent Members of the Security Council (United States, Great Britain, France, Russia and China) hold Veto Power, there is little chance that any action will be taken by the United Nations.
Both ruling parties in the United States (Republicans and Democrats) have already stated that they – along with Israel – will ignore the ICJ Opinion.

Nevertheless, a General Assembly Resolution, based upon the Advice of the World Court, will have Moral Authority. It is therefore essential that the Resolution be properly presented to the “Court of World Opinion”.
