Memorial Day 2004

Today is Memorial Day, in the United States, a day set aside to honor those who have died in the nation’s many wars.

This year, it also falls on “Pentecost Sunday”, when Christians recall the “Birthday of The Church”. It is a national holiday in many other countries.

This weekend might be an opportune time for Americans and Christians to remember the violence of their histories and return to their original values.

Perhaps, we may then see an end of Militarism and a beginning of Peace.

Every Church A Peace Church
Our GOAL and MISSION is to invite churches to make this AFFIRMATION and to act upon it:
"Following Jesus in nonviolent struggle for justice and peace, we love our neighbors and enemies as God loves us all, becoming a peace church to share in God’s work to save the world."
A peace church is a church which knows what happened to the body of Christ in the world, and still wants to be the body of Christ in the world.
