New Bombings of Israeli Civilians

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon had to cut short his hero’s welcome in Washington, D.C., Tuesday May 7, in order to attend to another brutal murder of innocent civilians. This time, the victims were Israelis.

Tuesday night, shortly after 11 p.m., in Israel, an explosion destroyed a pool hall in Rishon, killing at least 15 and wounding at least 57. More victims are expected to lie beneath the rubble.

The Jerusalem Post reports that since some of the victims were gamblers, it was first thought that the bombing might not have been political. Police later determined that it had been caused by an unidentified Palestinian suicide bomber.

“Police said the fact that the explosive used was TNT led them to suspect Hamas, though no group had claimed responsibility.”, notes the Jerusalem Post.

The Jerusalem Post also points out, “The timing of the attack coincided with the meeting in Washington between Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and US President George W. Bush.

“Middle East analysts said it appeared that the timing was not coincidental and was aimed at disrupting any attempts to broker a cease-fire and possible resumption of peace talks.
